Good morning OK-First members,
Currently the Oklahoma Climatological Survey, which is the state agency that the Oklahoma Mesonet and the OK-First program reside in, is in a Legislative review and renewal process. This process determines whether or not to continue the Oklahoma Climatological Survey for 1-year.
Last week, House Bill 2838 (HB2838) – which is called “sunset bill for the Oklahoma Climatological Survey” unanimously passed the House Administrative Rules Committee. The next step in this legislative renewal process is a vote in the House of Representatives. This could come as early as late this week, but more likely next week or maybe the week after.
Here’s where you come in. We would love to have as many people as are comfortable get in touch with your Oklahoma House Representative via email or phone to support HB2838. Let them know how the Oklahoma Climatological Survey/Oklahoma Mesonet/OK-First impact you in what you do in your jurisdiction.
The following link can help you find your local legislator’s contact information if you need it:

We may ask for your help again with a future part of this legislative process (Senate vote) – stay tuned!
Thank you for your time and assistance!
